TalkShop is turning ten this year. CEO Sheila Viesca says , “We look forward to more years of teaching English communication with the passion that has paved the way for great results through the years.”
TalkShop is affiliated with the International English Education Research Association
(IEERA) . In 2002, Viesca pioneered in Integrated Language Teaching (ILT) in the Philippines, infusing the highly interactive, communicative styles of the West into the traditional , creative approaches of the East.
With ILT, TalkShop is updating teaching styles for educators of English, and making English learning meaningful and purposive for non-native English speakers. Using this approach, communication is carried out through exercises that are relevant to learners’ life experiences.. Training includes functional communication activities , social interaction, dialogues and role playing, as well as the use of music and arts in the classroom.
Educators of English and non-native English speakers stand to benefit from this approach applied in comprehensive, interactive courses including Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) , Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL Advanced ) and Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages ( TESOL ) .
