SpiceWorx, an advisory partner to top Japanese companies has sent its third batch of Japanese trainees this year direct from Hitachi Information Systems, Japan for training with its preferred English training provider, TalkShop. Fifteen Japanese professionals learned the ropes of English communication, particularly in the areas of grammar and articulation. The workshop was conducted on August 17-23 at the Asian Institute of Management Conference Center in Makati City.
Sheila Viesca, TalkShop CEO devised a communication module comprising interviews, pronunciation drills, and games to get the participants talking. “The object is to get them speaking without qualms or reservations,” she said. Interjecting fun into the program were communicative and interactive games. Likewise the program incorporated business etiquette, while underscoring the need to practice workplace and social protocol of their homeland.
In the end, Viesca quipped that language learning is a continuous process, and that it can be learned only through constant practice and exposure to interlocutors, television shows, newspapers, books, and magazines using English as the medium of expression. “Mindful effort is the key to English language learning,” she added.
