For two consecutive years now, PJ Lhuillier, a group of companies with diverse interests in money remittance, hotel, insurance, jewelry, and banking services has been designating its training requirements to its preferred training provider, TalkShop. Most recent of these is “Corporate Writing and Grammar Mastery” for its Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) Group held at the PJLI Convention Center in Antipolo on September 23 and 24. In attendance were eighteen of the company’s technical staff who trained under Sheila Viesca, TalkShop CEO.
TalkShop which is known for its Integrative Language Teaching (ILT) approach that interweaves all language skills for well-rounded learning focused on procedure-based communication. “Effective communication is a key factor in the workplace, so our aim is to guide technical people on how to carry this out with clarity and brevity.” said Viesca.
TalkShop adopted procedure-based communication whereby drills were knowledge-based. These were drawn from actual official correspondences and documents that the participants learned to critique, proofread, and polish.
With this new learning approach, managers and the rank and file eagerly await upcoming workshops after seeing the value of using actual work documents at hand, to which they can easily relate to. Benefits are likewise expected to cascade to the company’s ongoing ISO 9001:2000 certification, which relies heavily on concise and systematic documentation of work processes.
Besides the ILT approach, TalkShop is known for customized training modules that target the specific needs of its clients, as well as unique and meaningful approaches directed at varying learning styles.
