How does one stick with healthy choices with the holiday feasting all around? Sheila Viesca, TalkShop CEO advises, “By keeping one’s resolve. This should not dampen the holiday spirit. One can still enjoy eating without worrying about one’s heath. It is a matter of making healthy choices,” she clarifies. She offers these tips:
1. Brown bag your meals to have healthy lunches and snacks at work.
2. Choose cottage cheese instead of rich alternatives.
3. Use extra virgin olive oil rather than mayo for your potato or macaroni salad.
4. Opt for chicken breast over other parts.
5. Roast or bake instead of frying.
6. Take your tea unsweetened. The good thing is this won’t stain the teeth either.
7. Use stevia, the all-natural sweetener.
8. Choose water over soda and alcohol.
9. Use turkey, chicken, or tuna for salads and sandwiches.
10. Serve fresh fruits with a squeeze of calamansi for a refreshing dessert. Do have a sampling of fancy dessert, but know your limits.
11. Have a light snack before you leave for parties.
12. Eat with small plates at parties.
13. Keep a food diary to manage your intake.
“Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.” - christianrock_chick
